Daxxify is a prescription medication injected into muscles to decrease facial wrinkles. It is the first major competitor to Botox that the FDA has approved in many years. Daxxify is a neuromodulator like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. However, these known neuromodulators last only about three months. Daxxify, in clinical trials, kept wrinkles at bay for four months, and about half of the clinical participants had no wrinkles at six months.
Daxxify will change the neuromodulator market because of its longevity. In addition, Daxxify does not contain human or animal products and is made from peptides or amino acids. The peptides in Daxxify may be why this product lasts longer than other neurotoxins. Another huge difference between Daxxify and other neuromodulators is refrigeration. Daxxify can be stored at room temperature and does not require refrigeration.
Daxxify did not reveal any serious treatment-related side effects and may be able to be used as a medication for other purposes. The FDA has only approved Daxxify for frown lines, but medical professionals can use Daxxify for off-label treatments.
