PDO Thread Lifts
What is PDO Thread Lifts?
PDO thread lifts are a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses absorbable sutures made of polydioxanone (PDO) to lift and tighten sagging skin. The threads are inserted under the skin using a small needle, providing an immediate lifting effect while also stimulating collagen production over time. PDO thread lifts are commonly used on areas like the face, neck, and jawline to achieve a more youthful appearance without the need for surgery. The threads gradually dissolve over several months, but the skin continues to improve as new collagen forms. Consultations are complimentary. Schedule your consultation today! 817.500.0557
How does a PDO Thread Lift work?
Polydioxanone (PDO) threads function similarly to dissolvable sutures, being absorbed by the skin’s deeper layers over time. During a PDO thread lift, a trained medical professional carefully inserts the fine threads into the sub-dermal skin layers using a small needle, then gently pulls to lift and tighten the skin. This process is repeated as needed, with typically two or three threads used per treatment area.
Beyond the immediate lifting and tightening effects, the insertion of the threads also creates micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulate a significant increase in collagen and elastin production, enhancing the long-term results.
What makes someone a good candidate for a PDO thread lift?
Ideal candidates for PDO thread lifts are individuals who maintain a healthy, stable weight, typically between their early thirties and mid-fifties, and are concerned with mild to moderate skin sagging and wrinkles around the mouth, nose, chin, or jawline. Those with thin or severely sagging skin may not be the best candidates for this procedure, but other options, such as various facelift techniques, are available to address their concerns.
How long does it take?
One of the greatest advantages of this treatment is that it only takes 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Once finished, you can immediately return to work or continue with your regular daily activities.
What can I expect before treatment?
Before the treatment begins, we apply a topical numbing agent and local anesthetic to the area. The needle used is so fine that it causes no pain, but we use anesthesia to ensure you remain completely comfortable throughout the procedure.
What can I expect during the treatment?
Once the anesthetic takes effect, the treatment begins. PDO threads are inserted using either blunt-tipped cannulas or sharp-tipped needles. Once placed into the correct layer of the skin, the threads act as anchors to lift the skin upwards, and any excess thread is trimmed off.
How long do the treatments last?
The longevity of PDO threads varies depending on several factors, including the thickness and quality of the threads, as well as your body’s metabolic rate. However, most clients find that the threads dissolve within six to nine months.
How soon will I see results?
Some results, like skin lifting and contouring, are visible immediately after the treatment. In fact, your skin may appear tighter when you leave our office than it will a week later.
When will I see the final results?
The full results of your PDO thread lift will appear within one to two months after treatment, depending largely on your age. Age plays a key role in how quickly your body produces new collagen, the protein responsible for plumping cheeks, filling fine lines, and smoothing wrinkles.
